Maid-Rite is a chain of Midwestern sandwich shops celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026. The loose meat filling is similar to a "Sloppy Joe," but the taste screams "made right!" Here's their recipe. The stores serve Maid-Rites with your choice of ketchup, mustard, pickles and onion.
1 tsp olive oil
1 cup chopped onion
1 lb. Pusheta Creek ground beef
1 cup beef broth
4 Tbsp yellow mustard
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp salt and pepper
Blanch onions in olive oil over medium heat on a griddle or large skillet.
Add beef over the onions and break into small crumbles as it browns.
Stir in broth, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper.
Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes or until liquid is mostly evaporated.
Serve on a bun with your favorite toppings and condiments.
